Cinnamon Molasses Syrup Recipe

  1. In a large saucepan, combine the sugar, water, molasses and lemon juice.
  2. Cook over medium high heat, stirring to dissolve the sugar, until the mixture comes to a boil.
  3. Reduce the heat to a simmer and cook for 8 minutes without stirring.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the butter, cinnamon, vanilla and salt.
  5. Serve immediately or transfer to a glass container and cool completely before putting on a lid.
  6. The syrup will thicken upon standing.
  7. Store in the refrigerator for up to a month.
