Devil’s Food Cake Recipe

A rich, tasty chocolate cake.

  1. Heat oven to 375F. Mix first five ingredients.
  2. Stir in molasses.
  3. Melt chocolate over hot water; add shortening-sugar mixture.
  4. Beat in eggs. Add sour milk alternately with flour (about 1/3 of each at a time).
  5. Bake 25 minutes or until done in 2 well-greased, lightly floured, round 8-inch layer cake pans.
  6. Cool; frost as desired.
