
Gingerbread Recipe
A classic holiday recipe.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Crisco® All-Vegetable Shortening
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup Grandma’s® Original Molasses
- 2 eggs
- 2 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, sifted
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp Clabber Girl® Baking Powder
- 1/2 tsp Clabber Girl® Baking Soda
- 1 tsp Spice Islands® Ground Ginger
- 2 tsp Spice Islands® Ground Saigon Cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp Spice Islands® Ground Cloves
- 1 cup hot water
Directions
- Cream shortening with sugar. Blend in molasses. Beat in eggs, one at a time.
- Sift together flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda and spices. Add to creamed mixture alternately with hot water.
- Turn into a greased 9x9x2-inch baking pan. Bake in 350F oven for 40 minutes. Cool.
