Molasses Crinkle Cookies Recipe

Ingredients
- 3/4 C. Crisco® All-Vegetable Shortening
- 1 C. light brown sugar, packed
- 1 egg
- 1/4 C. Grandma’s® Molasses
- 2 1/4 C. all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp. Clabber Girl® Baking Soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. Spice Islands® Ground Cloves
- 1 tsp. Spice Islands® Ground Saigon Cinnamon
- 1 tsp. Spice Islands® Ground Ginger
- Granulated sugar for rolling (about 1/2 cup)
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375°F. and line baking sheets with parchment paper or grease them; set aside.
- Mix shortening, sugar, egg and molasses until well blended.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, soda, salt and spices.
- Add the flour mixture to the molasses mixture and stir to combine.
- If the dough is too soft to handle, chill in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
- Scoop out approximately 1 tablespoon of dough and roll into a ball.
- Dip the top in the granulated sugar and place sugar side up on the baking sheets.
- Repeat with remaining dough. If you need to do multiple batches, store dough in the refrigerator between batches.
- Sprinkle the tops of each dough ball with 2-3 drops of water for a crackled surface.
- Bake 10-12 minutes.
