  1. Combine the ½ cup water, molasses, mirin, soy sauce, sugar, ginger and garlic powder in a saucepan.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the cold water and corn starch until well blended; set aside.
  3. Heat molasses mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture comes to a boil.
  4. Restir the corn starch mixture and pour into the saucepan.
  5. Cook, stirring constantly, keeping the mixture at a low boil until the sauce is glossy and thickened – about 2 minutes.
  6. Allow to cool before transferring to a storage container.
  7. Keep in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
