  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, salt and pepper.
  2. Rub the spice mixture all over the chicken thighs then place them in a storage bag. Refrigerate for at least an hour or overnight. Letting the chicken marinate in the dry rub will give it more flavor, but you can start cooking immediately if desired.
  3. Clean and oil the grill grates then preheat the grill to medium heat (~350˚F).
  4. When the grill is ready, remove the chicken from the bag and place them skin side down on the grill.
  5. Grill for 6-7 minutes (you can rotate them 45˚ around the 3-minute mark if you want a diamond pattern).
  6. Flip the thighs over and grill for 3 minutes.
  7. Brush the chicken with ¼ cup of the reserved BBQ sauce and cook an additional 3 minutes.
  8. Flip the thighs over again and brush with ¼ cup of the BBQ sauce. Cook 3 minutes.
  9. Flip one last time and brush with the remaining ¼ cup of BBQ sauce.
  10. Continue to grill until the internal temperature reaches 165˚F.
  11. Serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side!
